I haven't been sleeping well for a long time. It is funny that when you are up during the night and not able to sleep thoughts from your past creep into your mind. It is early morning and I was thinking about toys I use to play with. I had a doll named Mary Ann and she meant a great deal to me. One Christmas my mom asked if I wanted a new doll and I told her no because Mary Ann would be jealous. :) I was only 4 or 5, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
Another favorite toy or should I say fashion accessory was my Duncan Hines cake box purse. My mom would save the cake boxes for me. She would cut the top of box off to make it even around the top. I would then take a broken necklace and pin it to the sides of the box with safety pins to make the shoulder strap. I could fit quite a lot in my purse.
My dad (he died when I was 15) was a carpenter. When I was very young he made me a cupboard for my toy dishes. It was a wooden box with shelves that sat on the floor. It was about 2 feet high, just the right size for a small child. He even put tea hooks in so I cound hang my tea cups. When he was done I took a magic marker and drew on the top. It was now a cupboard/stove. I had drawn circles for burners, which seemed practical to me. I could store my dishes as well as cook.
Some memories are made to be written down. This morning they make me cry, but by this evening they will make me laugh. One doll, a wooden box, and a cake box purse are some of the most delightful memories of my childhood. It is the simple things that make us happy.
Until my next post, take care.
Teresa

Those are great memories! You made me think of some of mine. I remember this green bunny head purse with a round plastic handle that I carried EVERYWHERE. I loved that purse.
What sweet memories you shared. Made me think of cooking with my gramma, planting flowers right beside her, going to the show with my mom, and so much more. For me memories keep those near and dear in my heart, forever and always. Linda
Good memories are our best friends! They keep those we love with us at all times. It was so nice to read about yours. I hope you still have the doll or the stove/cupboard? Or are they just in your heart and mind now?
Have a very Happy Halloween!

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog today. I
am glad you found it through Heidi.
When Kristy (Christiancrafter) had her thyroid surgery, we did a scrapbook of my life for Heidi. It turned out to be one also for Kristy and Bill too. That really brought our fond memories for me and special to do it with Kristy.
